Our approach
Health and safety
By integrating health, safety and environmental considerations into all aspects of our business, we protect our employees, communities and the environment, while at the same time achieving sustainable growth and accelerated productivity.
We will never knowingly compromise health, safety, environmental or quality standards to meet operational objectives.
Environmental management
Our Environmental Management System is a comprehensive, systematic, planned and documented management process which defines the organisational structure, planning and resources for developing, implementing and maintaining Group policy for environmental protection.
Employment
By creating employment, we help reduce poverty and promote economic and social development.
The Group provides career development, international opportunities, a non-discriminatory workplace and competitive remuneration within a decentralised culture. The decentralised model is underpinned by a robust governance framework and empowers local management to make key business decisions locally.
We invest significantly in staff training and skills development, in order to help people to secure decent and productive jobs.
JKX have uploaded its modern slavery statement to the modern slavery statement registry. The registry is a platform for the public to share the positive steps they have taken to tackle and prevent modern slavery. The registry enhances transparency and accessibility, by bringing modern slavery statements together in one place and makes it easier to find and compare them. It allows users such as consumers, investors and civil society, to search for statements and scrutinise the action JKX and other organisations are taking to identify and address modern slavery risks in their operations and supply chains.
Please read our Modern Slavery Act statement here.
Communities
We are committed to engaging with local communities, sharing the benefits of our success with those who live close to our facilities.
Our CSR process
Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) process is led by the Board of Directors .
Our Health, Safety, Environment, Community and Quality (‘HSECQ’) Manager reports directly to the Board and has responsibility for creating a framework and maintaining the HSECQ Management System for managing the Group’s non-financial impacts. The Board is provided with regular updates on all material CSR issues.
Local responsibility
A nominated individual within each operating company has executive responsibility for implementing HSECQ management systems. These individuals are fully trained and experienced in working with local culture, regulations and practices.
In Ukraine and Russia we have fully trained HSECQ personnel who are responsible for management and reporting. These local teams report to the General Director of the local operating company and to the Group HSECQ Manager.
